Ignacio “Nacho” Salom is a tennis coach with over 10 years of experience in both competitive and developmental environments, complemented by 20 years of playing experience. Originally from Palma de Mallorca, Spain, he developed his athletic career at both national and international levels, including a period in the United States where he competed for one year in NCAA Division II and three years in the NAIA, as part of a nationally ranked Top 20 college team.
Throughout his coaching career, he has spent more than 10 years working with players of all ages and levels, from beginners to high-performance juniors, standing out for his ability to adapt training methodologies to each player’s individual needs. His coaching philosophy is centered around “progressive coaching,” a method focused on continuous, day-by-day improvement, helping players build confidence, consistency, and long-term development through structured progression.
Coming from a family with a strong tennis tradition, Ignacio grew up in an environment where discipline and hard work were core values. Influenced by his father and his uncle—who is a tennis coach and director of his own tennis club in Palma—he developed a mindset rooted in consistency and effort from an early age: “hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work.”
Beyond tennis, he has a strong interest in other racquet sports such as table tennis and pickleball, a sport in which he has delivered clinics and lessons during his most recent professional experience in the Caribbean. He also enjoys football (soccer) and basketball, as well as maintaining an active lifestyle through gym training and outdoor activities—habits he has cultivated since his college years in the United States.
